Moscow airport denies report of runway plane fire

Officials at Moscow’s Domodedovo international airport today denied a report that a plane caught fire on a runway, saying there had been no incidents and the airport was operating normally.

“There has been no incident at the airport. Nothing caught fire whatsoever,” Domodedovo spokeswoman Vera Bragina told The Associated Press. “The airport is working normally.”

The RIA-Novosti news agency initially reported that a plane had crashed on a runway at Domodedovo and caught fire, but minutes later said a plane on a runway caught fire. It later withdrew the reports, which had cited unidentified law-enforcement officials.

Bragina called the reports “disinformation”. Another spokeswoman, Anna Krasnova, also denied the reports and told NTV television airport authorities were looking into how they came about.
