Lech Walesa has minor heart surgery in Rome

Lech Walesa, founder of Poland’s Solidarity movement and Nobel Peace Prize winner, has undergone heart surgery in a Milan hospital, the Polish embassy to Italy said today.

Lech Walesa, founder of Poland’s Solidarity movement and Nobel Peace Prize winner, has undergone heart surgery in a Milan hospital, the Polish embassy to Italy said today.

The operation was successful and the 63-year-old Walesa, a former Polish president, has already left Italy, said embassy spokesman Wojciech Unolt.
