Police sweep Paris suburb where youths attacked officers
Police raided a neighbourhood in suburban Paris today where a band of youths attacked riot police last week, in an assault that seriously wounded one officer and revived memories of the violence that raged in poor French suburbs last year.
Investigators, riot forces and police officers took part in the early morning sweep in Corbeil-Essonnes south of the capital, the regional police headquarters said. It gave no immediate figures on how many people were arrested.
