Mine explosion in Kazakhstan kills 18

A methane explosion tore through a Kazakh coal mine today, killing 18 miners.

At least 25 others were unaccounted for, the ITAR-Tass news agency reported.

The blast occurred at the Lenin mine in the northern region of Karaganda, the Emergency Situations Ministry said.
