Talks meant to give Tehran a last chance to avoid UN sanctions were in jeopardy today, with diplomats and European officials saying Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator had still not given word whether he would meet with the European Union’s foreign policy chief.

Talks meant to give Tehran a last chance to avoid UN sanctions were in jeopardy today, with diplomats and European officials saying Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator had still not given word whether he would meet with the European Union’s foreign policy chief.

The talks had been tentatively set for today in Vienna, Austria. But while the European Union’s Javier Solana was ready to fly to the Austrian capital at short notice, diplomats and officials said Tehran had yet to say if nuclear envoy Ali Larijani would go.
