Kidnap victim to give first interview

The Austrian woman who was kidnapped and held captive for more than eight years, spending much of her time confined to a windowless underground cell, will give her first interview this week.

Natascha Kampusch has agreed to be interviewed by public broadcaster ORF, and the session was expected to be aired on Wednesday evening, said Kampusch’s media representative, Dietmar Ecker.

Ecker said Kampusch, who bolted to freedom on August 23 after more than eight years of captivity, planned to grant only two other interviews: one to the mass-circulation Kronen Zeitung daily and the other to the weekly magazine News.
