A roadside bomb blast at Baghdad’s largest and oldest wholesale market district killed at least 24 people and injured 35 today, bringing the total killed around Iraq to 39 people.

The blast occurred at 9.50am (6.50am Irish time) at the Shurja commercial center, said police Lt Mohammed Khayoun.
