Strong earthquake rocks Indonesia
A strong undersea earthquake rocked parts of south-east Indonesia today, the country’s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.
The 6.4-magnitude earthquake was centred 20 miles beneath the Arafura Sea, about 90 miles south-west of Tual, the agency sid.
However, the US Geological Survey based in Denver, Colorado said the quake’s magnitude was 5.1. There was no immediate explanation for the discrepancy.
There were no reports of damage or casualties shortly after the quake struck.
