Man held in connection with Manchester family's murder

A 40-year-old man was arrested today by police investigating the murder of a woman and her three children.

Greater Manchester Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of the murders of Uzma Rahan and her three children, whose bodies were found at the family home in Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester, on Sunday.

He was arrested in the Burnage area of Manchester, a short time after a 35-year-old woman from the same area was also arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Superintendent Martin Bottomley, of Greater Manchester Police, confirmed the two arrests and said all four victims died of head injuries.

He said: “We are still actively looking for Rahan Arshad and I now believe that he left the country on around July 29. We will be liaising with our colleagues in international police forces to help us to trace him.”
