16 killed as bus plunges off Kashmir mountain road

At least 16 people were killed and 35 injured when a crowded bus swerved off a steep mountain road and plunged into a gorge in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

The driver appeared to lose control of the bus as he negotiated a sharp bend in the road and the bus fell at least 800 feet into a gorge, Press Trust of India news agency said.
