Gunfire in capital after Congo election result

Heavy gunfire echoed through the Congolese capital today, with the shooting apparently centred close to the home of ex-rebel leader turned presidential candidate Jean-Pierre Bemba.

There was no immediate explanation for the gunfire, which appeared to include shots from automatic rifles as well as heavier machine guns.
