Six killed in crash during German police chase
Six people died and another two were seriously injured when a car that was being chased by police crashed into a tree in eastern Germany, police said today.
The accident happened yesterday evening near Frankfurt an der Oder, on Germany’s border with Poland.
Police said they had tried to pull the car over because they suspected its occupants were involved in people smuggling.
The driver sped up in attempt to escape, but lost control of the vehicle on a bend and crashed into a tree.
Three of the people in the car died at the scene of the accident and another three later in hospital.
Two of them were Czech and one Vietnamese, police said, but there was no immediate information on the identity of the other passengers.
