Thousands of Palestinians show support for Hezbollah

About 2,000 Palestinians demonstrated in the West Bank today to show support for Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, whose guerrillas have been waging a two-week battle against the Israeli army.

“Dear Nasrallah, blow up Tel Aviv,” the marchers chanted as they waved Lebanese and Hezbollah flags.

Some carried pictures of Nasrallah and overthrown Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, while two dozen gunmen fired in the air.

The Israel-Hezbollah fighting erupted on July 12 after the guerrilla group captured two soldiers and killed three others in a cross-border raid on a military patrol.

Since then, more than 400 Lebanese and more than 50 Israelis have been killed. Hezbollah has rained hundreds of rockets on Israeli border towns.
