The EU has demanded the immediate release of two Israeli soldiers captured by Hezbollah today in a cross-border raid that provoked an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon.

In Brussels, EU spokeswoman Emma Udwin urged both sides to respect the Blue Line border drawn by the UN after the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon in 2000.
