Two Kashmiri militant groups today denied any role in bombings that yesterday ripped through Mumbai commuter trains, killing 190 people and wounding more than 400.

Suspicion for the blasts quickly fell on Kashmiri militants, who have repeatedly used near-simultaneous explosions to attack Indian cities.

But two of the main Islamic militant groups in the Himalayan region - Lashkar-e-Tayyaba and Hezb-ul-Mujahedeen – said in separate statements today that they had nothing to do with the Mumbai bombings or a series of grenade attacks in Kashmir yesterday that killed eight people.
