Baghdad: Suicide car bomber strikes pilgrims

A suicide car bomber attacked a group of Iranian pilgrims today as they were descending from tour buses at a Shiite shrine south of Baghdad, killing 12 people and wounding 39 – most of them Iranians.

A suicide car bomber attacked a group of Iranian pilgrims today as they were descending from tour buses at a Shiite shrine south of Baghdad, killing 12 people and wounding 39 – most of them Iranians.

The bomber struck near a shrine in Kufa, a major Shiite holy city 100 miles south of Baghdad, detonating a minivan behind two buses just as the pilgrims were getting off, police said.
