Afghan president condemns attacks on civilians

A coalition soldier and 10 suspected Taliban died in the latest clashes to plague southern and eastern Afghanistan, officials said today, while security was tightened in the capital after a spate of bombings.

In eastern Afghanistan, militants opened fire on a US-led coalition patrol in Paktika’s Gayan district, killing one soldier.
