17 dead in Pakistan floods
The death toll from flooding in north-western Pakistan reached 17 after more bodies were recovered from the rubble of three homes that washed away when a rain-swollen canal burst its banks, police said today.
Rescuers also pulled a three-year-old boy alive from the rubble about eight hours after he had been buried in yesterday’s mudslide in Swat, a resort district about 190 kilometres (120 miles) northwest of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.
