Embassy says govt not involved in abduction
The US Embassy today said the United States was not involved in the alleged abduction of a Honduran man.
The Honduran government said on Thursday that it is investigating whether Luis Alberto Mendoza, 40, was abducted on June 5 by two Honduran and two US police officials, according to a complaint filed by his father, Luis Mendoza Almendarez, attorney general spokesman Melvin Duarte said.
Today, the embassy said Mendoza had been arrested 13 times in the United States and faces various arms and drug charges, as well as suspected involvement in the killings of police officers.
But it said in a statement that it did not know if Mendoza was in Honduras.
