British and US agents join search for Mladic
British and US agents have joined the search for top war crimes fugitive Gen. Ratko Mladic, Serbian media and officials said today.
“Several American and British agents are in Serbia and are co-operating with our secret services on locating Mladic,” the Blic daily newspaper said.
Belgrade’s failure to locate Mladic led the European Union to suspend pre-membership talks with the Balkan republic earlier this year, and EU officials have said negotiations can continue only after Mladic is arrested.
The former commander of Bosnian Serb forces during Bosnia’s 1992-95 war is wanted by the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, on genocide charges for allegedly orchestrating the 1995 massacre of 8,000 Muslims from Srebrenica.
