Three die in holiday gas blast

Up to three people were killed and dozens injured in a blast at a Turkish resort today.

The explosion took place at a waterfall in the Manavgat area of Antalya, according to local officials.

The state-owned Anatolia news agency reported that it was being blamed on gas canisters.

Two Russian citizens are thought to be among the dead. Local reports indicated that three people had been killed.

First Choice Holidays said it was checking whether any of its holidaymakers had been caught up in the incident.

ā€œPeople may have gone on their own, but we did not have any excursions going to the waterfalls today,ā€ a spokeswoman added. ā€œWe have just over 100 customers in the area.ā€

A spokeswoman for Thomson said: ā€œWe are working with a team at the resort to try and gather information about what’s happening on the ground.ā€
