Suicides prompt early Red Cross visit to Guantanamo
The international Red Cross today said it hoped to visit the US prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, this week because of the suicides of three inmates.
The International Committee of the Red Cross asked US authorities if it could move forward a planned visit after the organisation learned of the suicides of two Saudi men and one Yemeni, spokesman Vincent Lusser said in Geneva. The ICRC stressed that the visit was not an investigation.
