Police fired tear gas at protesters when rioting broke out after a rally in Athens against proposed education reforms by Greece’s conservative government.

A group of youths broke away from some 1,500 student demonstrators at a rally in central Athens and smashed bank windows, storefronts and several cars, authorities said.
