Ten children die in Kashmir boat tragedy

At least 10 children drowned today when a boat capsized on a Kashmiri lake.

Details were scant, but police superintendent Junaid Ahmed said the bodies of the dead children had been recovered and authorities were searching the lake to see if there were more victims

He could not say how many people were on the boat, and there was no word on survivors.

Authorities were also trying to determine what caused the accident on Wular Lake, about 30 miles north of Srinagar, the summer capital of India’s Jammu-Kashmir state.
