A body found in a Naples manhole with a knife in its abdomen has been identified as a Canadian diplomat who has been missing since March, Italian police said today.

Authorities identified the man as Lewis Brooks Miskell, a 49-year-old Canadian diplomat based in Vienna, Austria, said Luigi Bonacura, a police official.

He said authorities are investigating his death. The body, which was recovered Friday, was identified through dental records, Bonacura added.

Bonacura said Miskell had arrived in Italy on March 6 for a holiday but went missing shortly after.
