A powerful bomb has blown up a gas pipeline in a remote town of insurgency-wracked south-western Pakistan, gutting dozens of shops but causing no casualties, a government official said today.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack in Sui, about 300 kilometres (180 miles) east of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, where the country’s main gas fields are location.
