Thailand: Three dead as lift plunges 25 storeys

A lift being repaired in a Bangkok high-rise building malfunctioned and plummeted more than 20 storeys today, killing three mechanics on board and injuring two others, police said.

The mechanics were working on the lift on the 25th floor of the Citibank building in the Thai capital when it suddenly plunged to the basement, said Sgt. Nisai Kluaysawat of Bangkok’s Thung Mahamek district police station.
