Missile explosion kills two people at Russian air base
An air-to-air missile exploded today at an air base outside Moscow, killing two people, Russian news agencies reported.
The agencies, citing Russia’s Air Force Commander Vladimir Mikhailov, said the explosion occurred at the military base in Sergiyev Posad, 43 miles north-east of Moscow.
An Air Force officer and an Army worker opened the doors to a disassembly workshop at the Central Air Base of Rocket Armaments and Ammunition and either a rocket engine started up or the missile exploded, the Interfax news agency said. Both men were killed.
