Former Enron boss denies any wrongdoing

Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay took the witness stand today in his fraud and conspiracy trial and sternly denied he had broken the law.

Asked by one of his lawyers whether he conspired to violate federal securities rules or broke wire fraud and securities fraud laws, Lay answered in a firm voice: “I did not.”
