Suicide attacker hits British convoy in southern Afghanistan
A suicide attacker in a car exploded a bomb near a British troop convoy in southern Afghanistan today. It wasn’t immediately if any troops were hurt.
The attacker, driving a Toyota Corolla, died in the attack that happened at 10.30am local time, about 100 yards from a British base in Lashkargah, the main town in Helmand province, said Abdul Rahman Saber, the provincial police chief.
He said a British vehicle was damaged in the attack, but had no confirmed information if any people inside were wounded.
In Kabul, Lt. Rob Hunt, a public affairs officer for British forces in Afghanistan, said he could not immediately confirm the incident.
