Olmert to be asked to form new Israeli govt

Israel’s president will ask acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to form a new government after his centrist Kadima Party won last week’s election, a spokeswoman said today.

President Moshe Katsav will meet Olmert tomorrow and ask him to put together the new government, Katsav’s spokeswoman, Hagit Cohen said.
