Explosion hits bomb squad HQ in Indonesia

An explosion today at the headquarters of the bomb squad in the Indonesian city of Medan left several officers badly injured.

A witness told el-Shinta radio station he saw several officials with serious blast injuries being taken to a hospital in Medan on Sumatra island.

“There was some with legs blown off, some with hands blown off,” the witness, said Hendrik said. “All were wearing uniform.” He gave only a single name.

The station quoted another witness as saying the blast came from within the headquarters of the paramilitary police’s bomb squad headquarters in the city.

Local officials were not available to comment.
