Serbia's security services 'know where Mladic is hiding'
Serbia’s security services know where top war crimes fugitive Gen Ratko Mladic is hiding, the foreign minister has said.
Vuk Draskovic told state TV last night that the security forces have failed to arrest the wartime Bosnian Serb army commander because they have not been “cleansed” of the staff loyal to late President Slobodan Milosevic.
“How can those who fought along with Mladic now reveal his whereabouts?” Draskovic, who has often in the past criticised Serbia’s government for failing to arrest the most wanted fugitive, asked.
“The search for Mladic is doomed to fail if a single member of the search team is a Mladic contact,” Draskovic said.
He said that he is convinced that Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica does not know where Mladic is, but added that he believes Kostunica’s secret service knows his whereabouts – indicating the prime minister was not in control of his intelligence network.
