Two Polish ski tourists sent out a distress call today after being caught in a severe Arctic storm on the desolate Svalbard islands north of Norway.

A helicopter sent to rescue them was forced to turn back due to the severe weather, so snowmobiles and tracked vehicles were sent into the tundra to search for them, officials on the island said.
