A judge in Worcester, Massachusetts, today ruled that an American linked romantically to Princess Beatrice violated his probation when he went on a European ski trip.
Worcester Superior Court Judge John McCann found that Paolo Liuzzo, 23, violated his probation for assault and battery charges in connection with the 2002 death of fellow Holy Cross student Jonathan Duchatellier.
The judge planned to decide later today what, if any, penalty Liuzzo will face.
A prosecutor and the chief probation officer did not ask for any prison time, but requested that the terms of Liuzzo’s probation be amended to require him to have face to face check-ins with a probation officer.
They also want to limit his travel to the US only.
Liuzzo has been linked romantically in British tabloids to the 17-year-old Beatrice, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.
Buckingham Palace has refused to comment on the reported relationship between Liuzzo and Beatrice, who is fifth in line to the throne.
