Nepalese government soldiers killed at least 20 communist rebels today in an operation near the country's capital, the military said.

The Royal Nepalese Army headquarters said soldiers recovered the bodies of at least 20 rebels.

They believed many more were killed in the operation at Dhading, about 50 miles north-west of the capital, Kathmandu.
