Tribunal to consider releasing Milosevic files

The UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague will consider declassifying documents in Slobodan Milosevic’s case so they can be released to Dutch authorities investigating the former Yugoslav president’s death.

Tribunal President Fausto Pocar yesterday assigned a trial chamber to consider the issue, but no date was set for hearings.

The decision was announced by the court today.

Documents on Milosevic’s health, including details on his medication use, will also be used in the tribunal’s internal investigation into Milosevic’s death, court documents said.

Milosevic was found lifeless in his bed on Saturday.

Initial testing indicated he was killed by a heart attack, but his supporters claim he was poisoned.

A toxicology report, due out today, was expected to determine if he was on unprescribed medication that could have damaged his health.
