Avalanche in northern Italy hits skiers

An avalanche in northern Italy hit a group of skiers today, slightly injuring two.

The avalanche occurred on Mount Rocca Giardina, near Cuneo, during the World Ski Mountaineering Championship.

No one was reported missing among the athletes, but rescuers were checking to see if any spectators were involved, said firefighters and championship organisers.
