Police investigating the £53m (€77m) Securitas heist found several million pounds following a raid in south east London, they said today.

A 43-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods following yesterday’s operation at an industrial premises in Welling.

A number of bags recovered at the scene were currently being examined for forensic evidence.

A spokesman for Kent police added that money had been found following searches at Elderden Farm, Staplehurst, but that the amount was “not significant”.
