US forces detain 61 suspected Iraqi insurgents

US forces detained 61 suspected insurgents in a series of raids west of Baghdad, the military said today.

Among those apprehended on Monday were people believed to be funding and providing logistical support to suicide bombers and foreign fighters for al-Qaida in Iraq, a US military statement said.
