Chirac orders decommissioned warship back to France

President Jacques Chirac called a decommissioned aircraft carrier back to France, after a top administrative court today ordered that the warship’s transfer to India be suspended.

Chirac’s decision represented a victory for environmentalists who had contested France’s decision to send the asbestos-carrying Clemenceau to India to be broken up.
