Two Algerian editors have been taken into police custody for publishing caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed that have sparked violent protests in the Muslim world, a media group said today.

Two Algerian editors have been taken into police custody for publishing caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed that have sparked violent protests in the Muslim world, a media group said today.

Kamel Bousaad and Berkane Bouderbala were detained last week and risk being sentenced to prison terms, Paris-based Reporters Without Borders said. Under Algerian law, people who insult the prophet risk up to five years imprisonment.
