France willing to take asbestos from Clemenceau warship
France is willing to take back the asbestos from the disused warship Clemenceau, currently heading to an Indian shipbreaking yard amid protests by environmental activists.
French ambassador Dominique Girard said, after a visit to the Alang shipbreaking yards in the western Gujarat state, that “if the Indian government or the Indian court decides ... we would be happy and prepared to take the material, the asbestos-containing material, back to France.”
