Three teens shot near Chicago school

Three teens were shot this morning on a street near their Chicago high school, officials said.

The shootings took place just before 8am in the street on the city’s north-west side, Chicago Police spokeswoman Patrice Harper said. Carl Schurz High School is located nearby.

All three victims were male students at Schurz, said Chicago Public Schools spokesman Michael Vaughn.

Two of the victims were freshmen, typically 14 or 15 years old, and one was a sophomore, usually age 15 or 16.

One victim was shot in the head and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Centre in critical condition, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.

The second victim had graze wounds to the head and neck and the third victim was shot in the leg.

Langford did not immediately have information about the victims.

A spokeswoman at Illinois Masonic declined to release details without the victims’ identification.

No one has been arrested, Harper said.
