Bus crash kills at least seven in Sweden
A tour bus slid off a road in central Sweden and rolled over today, killing at least seven people and injuring dozens, authorities said.
It was unclear whether there were still people trapped in the wreckage near Arvika, some 60 miles west of Stockholm.
Photographs from the scene showed the bus upside down in a snowy ditch.
Kjell Nylund, a local government spokesman, said seven deaths had been confirmed and that 41 people had been taken to hospitals.
Eight or nine people were in serious condition.
The travel group that organised the bus trip said there were 50 passengers and a driver on board the Volvo bus, which was heading from the central town of Skovde to Stockholm for a weekend tour.
Police spokesman Ulf Palm said the cause of the accident was not immediately clear, but no other vehicles were involved.
