Kerry does not rule out another presidential bid
John Kerry, the failed Democratic candidate for US president in 2004, said today that he does not rule out a repeat run, and his wife said a decision would be made by year’s end.
Asked whether he would not rule out a repeat run in 2008, Kerry told The Associated Press: “No – I haven’t.”
“We’ll tell you somewhere down the line,” he said.
His wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, added: “We’ll know by the end of the year.”
In 2004, Kerry lost the popular vote to George Bush, and would have won the election but for the loss of Ohio – a key swing state that narrowly went to the Republican incumbent.
The Massachusetts senator was speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss ski resort of Davos, where he is participating in a session tomorrow about the future of US leadership.
