Swiss jet overshoots runway in Stuttgart
A Swiss International Airlines plane overshot the runway at Stuttgart airport today as it landed in snowy conditions, but no one was injured.
The accident happened as the Embraer 145 jet from Zurich, Switzerland landed at about 8.20am (7.20am Irish time).
All 40 passengers and three crew members were able to disembark uninjured, airport spokesman Volkmar Kraemer said.
The airport’s runway had to be closed for about two-and-a-half hours, forcing the cancellation of 25 flights.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the accident.
Snow today also caused Frankfurt Airport to close down one of its runways, leading to several delays and at least one cancellation.
