Oaten joins race to be Lib Dem leader

Mark Oaten today threw his hat into the ring for the fight for the UK's Liberal Democrat leadership as he declared he would modernise the party and lead it to power.

The Home Affairs spokesman’s decision to join elder statesman Sir Menzies Campbell in the race to succeed Charles Kennedy ensures that there will be a ballot of the party’s 73,000 members.
