Ice rink roof collapses

Injuries and deaths were feared today when the roof of an ice rink in a town in the Bavarian Alps collapsed, police said.

A spokesman said he believed several people were injured.

“We know that parts of, or the whole of, the roof of the ice sport hall have collapsed” in Bad Reichenhall, police spokesman Fritz Braun told n-tv television.

Firefighters were at the scene and trying to get into the building, “but we expect several injuries and possibly also deaths,” Braun said.
