Fugitive shoots himself

A murder suspect who escaped from a police van after allegedly killing two officers was found dead in northern Greece today after a massive manhunt, authorities said.

Greek Police chief Lt. Gen. Giorgos Angelakos said Russian national Maxim Zhilin, 23, committed suicide to avoid arrest, using the service gun of one of the dead officers – in which a single bullet had remained.
